Need-based scholarships

EPFL social scholarship

EPFL is dedicated to supporting students, in particular when their financial situation makes it difficult for them to complete their studies.

These scholarships, subject to defined criteria, are:

  • Awarded following an unexpected and sudden change in the social, family and/or economic situation of the applicant or of the persons in charge of the applicant.
  • Are only applied as a last resort once all other possibilities investigated (parental contribution, state grants, etc.) have been rejected. However, an application to a state organisation may be in progress at the time the application is submitted to EPFL.

Official documentation available on Polylex:

  • 2.10.0.3 Ordinance of the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne on study grants
  • 2.10.3 Directive concerning the awarding of study grants by the EPFL
