Bachelor excellence fellowships

In order to encourage holders of a Swiss high-school maturity diploma and holders of a Swiss vocational maturity diploma undertaking the CMS in their scientific ambitions, EPFL offers excellence fellowships to talented students starting their Bachelor’s degree, regardless of the field of studies they choose.

Rewarding all forms of excellence

These fellowships, worth CHF 10,000 spread over three years, along with guaranteed housing (request to be filled in the registration form), are intended for students whose results and engagement stood out throughout their pre-university curriculum, in both school and extracurricular activities.

EPFL wishes to reward candidates who are motivated to further pursue their scientific interests and undertake demanding studies, while also taking into account their involvement in the life of their school or in extracurricular activities, whether artistic, sporting, civic, or entrepreneurial.

McCall MacBain Leadership Development Program

In partnership with the McCall MacBain Foundation, the McCall MacBain Leadership Development program was designed to complement the financial fellowship. It offers recipients a unique development training pathway, allowing them to join a vibrant and supporting community, developing their transversal skills (communication, leadership cultural agility, etc.) and having an experiential learning experience throughout their three years of undergraduate studies at EPFL, regardless of their field of studies.

By combining the financial fellowship with this structured leadership development training, the EPFL Bachelor excellence fellowship is a comprehensive and unique form of support in Switzerland. It nurtures the potential of talented young individuals, with the ambition of inspiring and equipping them to become responsible and engaged scientists and engineers.

Application and presentation

In order to be eligible for this fellowship, students in their final year of high school must check the corresponding box on their Bachelor’s application form before April 30th and provide the requested application file.

Following the study of all applications, selected candidates will be invited to present their maturity project or a subject of their choice before a jury of EPFL professors. Their eloquence, their capacity for synthesis and their ability to put their thoughts into perspective will be evaluated during short five-minute presentations followed by question and answer sessions.
