Universal Gripper Controller Design with Visual Feedback

Abstract

This semester project aims to develop two new boards for the modular robot Roombots. These new boards are designed to be fully compatible with the other Roombots in terms of hardware and software. The first board we designed is the Spotlight Board which aims to control a spotlight mounted into the Roombots module to give a visual feedback to user. The second board we designed is Gripper Board which aims to control a universal gripper designed by Simon Hauser, research assistant at BioRob. After designing the boards, we developed their firmware and a simple text based Bluetooth user interface and we also created a simple graphics based Android user interface to ease the testing and the use of our boards.
