Photovoltaics and thin films

Thin film tandem and multi-junction photovoltaics are cost-effective, adaptable and efficient solar cell technologies for contributing to the world’s future energy needs. Obtaining competitive solar cell efficiencies depends strongly on the optimization of cell structures and materials properties. We are collaborating with the Photovoltaics and Thin Film Electronics laboratory of EPFL to work on the nanoscale materials analysis of development cells and transistors, in order to better understand and optimise the growth of the thin film structures and so help create competitive technologies for clean energy production.
