Fast imaging

Fast framing cameras are one of most recent diagnostics to study on plasma turbulence. The fast imaging could provide useful information about plasma turbulence with reasonable spatio-temporal resolution to resolve small scale and complicated turbulent structures. To complement Langmuir probe data, a Photron Ultima APX-RS fast framing camera has been acquired for TORPEX. This allows fast imaging of the light emitted by the plasma, such that direct information can be extracted about turbulent structures and their properties, such as speed and size without perturbation. Also statistical and spectral properties of visible light can be compared with electrostatic fluctuations measured by probes. Existing models of plasma emission mechanisms can be examined by comparing the two different imaging systems in TORPEX [Iraji PoP 2010] .
