The context of the 2023 satisfaction survey

The last satisfaction survey (ATMOS II) dates back to 2012.

EPFL has decided to initiate a new satisfaction survey and has mandated the company Empiricon who also supported the 2021 employee survey for ETHZ. It is planned to periodically renew this survey in order to evaluate the evolution of the situation and thus determine the impact of the measures put in place.

With 2,352 responses, the satisfaction survey achieved a participation rate of 40%. Detailed results are available on this page.

The initiatives identified at the institutional level as a result of the engagement survey will be published and shared with EPFL employees by the end of 2023.

Specific action plans for each unit will be defined by managers or their delegates together with their teams.

The satisfaction survey is confidential.

The online survey process and the evaluation of the data will be carried out for EPFL by an independent research and consulting company, Empiricon AG, which specializes in employee satisfaction analysis.

Empiricon AG guarantees complete confidentiality in the processing of your personal data. Individual questionnaires are not  shared with EPFL. The questionnaires are recorded and evaluated directly by Empiricon AG. The company also ensures that the evaluation does not allow the data to be attributed to individuals. The data is only analyzed in consolidated form and the results are only made available when they relate to groups of at least five respondents.

The satisfaction survey is open to all EPFL employees, except for those who joined EPFL after October 31, 2022 and interns.

The survey will be conducted entirely online and will take place in May (May 2nd to May 30th 2023). It will take about 20 minutes to complete the online questionnaire.

The questionnaire will be available in French and English.

Level 1 and 2 organizational units (Vice-Presidencies, Faculties, Domains), according to the official EPFL structure, will receive a report. Level 3 and 4 organizational units (Services and Units) will have access to their specific report on request only. For this, please contact [email protected]. Please note that reports will only be issued if 5 people have completed the survey. Should this be the case, the results will be compiled at a higher level. EPFL will not be able to trace results back to individuals.

An institutional report with consolidated survey results will be shared with all employees.
