Child benefits

Please inform us of the birth of your child as soon as possible by sending us a copy of the birth certificate or the family record book (livret de famille).

The Social Insurance Service will send you a child benefits application form for you to fill in and attach copies of the official documents or certificates requested and return to [email protected].

The following child benefits are allocated in 2024, per year :

  • CHF 4’605.60 for the 1stchild
  • CHF 2’940.55 for the 2ndchild and following children aged < 16.
  • CHF 3’310.80 for the 2ndchild and following children aged > 16.

The following child benefits were allocated in 2023, per year :

  • CHF 4,584.- for the 1st child
  • CHF 2,935.20 for the 2nd child and following children aged < 16.
  • CHF 3,307.80 for the 2nd child and following children aged > 16.

These amounts correspond to the cantonal allowance and EPF supplement. If the cantonal allowance is higher than these amounts, the EPF supplement is not paid.

Child benefits are paid to employees who have children of under 16 years of age to support. For children of over 16 years of age undergoing training, or children of over 15 years of age already engaged in post-compulsory education, payments can be extended up to 25 years of age maximum.
