Management of Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) subsidy supplements

The management of the supplements to the SNSF subsidies is assigned to HR.  The additional financing will be granted to PhD students who fulfil the following necessary minimal conditions :

  1. the PhD student’s salary must be financed by an SNSF subsidy; no exception to this rule will be authorised;
  2. the candidate must be correctly enrolled at the Doctoral School as doctoral candidate at EPFL, that is to say, registered upon arrival, then definitively admitted for preparation of the thesis at the end of 12 months (18 months in exceptional cases). As a reminder, the academic deadlines for the doctorate are summarised here.

You register with Human Resources using the “hiring proposal” or the workflow available in Infocentre Sesame “Change of funding source (transfer/reversal)”. If you use the workflow for a Doctoral Assistant, the supplement will be automatically proposed to you. The exact allocation percentage will then be calculated by HR

The SNSF subsidy payment starts on the 1st of the month of registration for the doctoral programme.

Heads of Laboratories must ensure that the above-mentioned conditions are fulfilled.
