Stanislav Schmidt is a Machine Learning Engineer in the Simulation Neuroscience Division.
Stanislav joined Blue Brain in 2019 where he now leverages modern machine learning techniques and tools to support many neuroscientific workflows. He is working on improving the morphological classification of neurons using graph neural networks, literature mining using modern NLP tools like spaCy and transformers, and brain imagery alignment and interpolation using a range of image processing techniques.
He gained his PhD in Theoretical High Energy Physics from the University of Southampton, UK and his MSc in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics – Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. Prior to that, he graduated with a BSc in Physics from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany.
In his free time, he enjoys programing, chess and in winter, snowboarding and ice hockey, switching to running and volleyball in the summer.
