Led by several actors in the economy.

Center for Digital Education CEDE

The CEDE is where the Campus Analytics project was initiated and developed. The center’s mission is to develop new learning technologies for the benefit of EPFL students and the world, including the production of most of our MOOCs, and perform research in the area of learning theory based on educational big data.

Computer-Human Interaction in Learning and Instruction CHILI

The CHILI lab does research on novel interfaces for learning, with a focus on learning in teams. They develop, explore, and research novel interfaces for learning, such as tangibles, tabletop environments, and paper-based interfaces. They study these interfaces along with the emerging interactions in the context of training and learning in various domains, such as logistics apprentices and elementary schools.

Data Science Lab DLAB

The DLAB is a recently founded research group in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences at EPFL. Their research aims to make sense of large amounts of data, such as data collected on the Web, using server logs, social media, wikis, online news, online games, etc. They distill heaps of raw data into meaningful insights by developing and applying algorithms and techniques in multiple areas.

Interfaculty Institute of Bioengineering IBI

The IBI has the stated mission to perform world-class quantitative, systems- and design-oriented research in and for the life sciences. By breaking down the boundaries between engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science and the life sciences, we strive to better understand basic biological principles and transform this knowledge into innovative technology platforms and clinical applications.

Teaching Support Center CAPE

The CAPE is a center that offers a large range of services and resources to support all those involved in teaching: teachers, doctoral assistants, post-docs, sections and students. It works with teachers and teaching teams on a one-to-one basis in order to understand their context and to help them generate possibilities which are realistic and constructive, given their content, their goals and their constraints.

Chair of Economics and Management of Innovation CEMI

The CEMI lab develops teaching and research in the area of economics and management of innovation, knowledge and technology. They research effective measures for the promotion of long term economic growth and development through innovation, based on understanding of how innovation is generated, distributed and exploited by several actors in the economy.

Swiss Data Science Center SDSC
The SDSC is an initiative from the ETH Domain to promote data science. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of data science and machine learning techniques broadly within academic disciplines of the ETH Domain, the Swiss academic community at large, and the industrial sector.
ArtLab Center ARTLAB
The ArtLab Center is a building designed by the architect Kengo Kuma, with the goal of “building bridges between the hard sciences and the humanities”. The building consists of 3 spaces, one of which —called the DataSquare- is a welcome area where campus visitors can learn about the main research projects under way at EPFL, particularly projects in the domains of data science and big data.
