Strawberries

Strawberries are low in sugar and low in calories but loaded with vitamins and fibre. With a high content of vitamin C, strawberries are a natural anti-fatigue and facilitate mental concentration.

A word from the nutritionist

Strawberries contain flavonoids that give them their bright red colour. These powerful antioxidants play an important role in the protection against cancers. Its high dietary fibre content helps strengthen the intestinal flora and together with its rich concentration of vitamin C, strawberries can help strengthen the immune system and fight against various infections.

How to choose your strawberries

Naturally, the best strawberries are those that you pick yourself from your garden or from a local producer, preferably in the cool hours of early morning, when the fruit is still firm and full of flavour.

If you can’t pick your own strawberries, the best ones are those bought at the local market, directly from the growers in the region, who picked them that morning.

The fruit must be beautiful bright red color, with a green. Its texture is medium-firm.

 How to store them well

Avoid closed containers, the fruit needs to breathe. It is best not to pile them up and wash them only when serving them. They keep well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

To keep strawberries in the freezer, simply wash them well in ice water, drain them, and freeze them quickly in the coldest part of the freezer, preferably on a single layer without staking them on top of each other.
