The SMEs Unit is aimed at all small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wishing to launch their innovation project. Its priority is to support the individual innovation needs of companies in order to ensure their local and international competitiveness.

SMEs / EPFL collaborations meet the specific needs of innovative SMEs, namely:

  • Collaborative projects
SMEs can use the skills of EPFL researchers to innovate, in particular by setting up collaborative projects funded by Innosuisse.
  • Events & networking
FORWARD, Innovation Forum for SMEs at EPFL is organized annually by EPFL in partnership with Le Temps et PME Magazine. A unique networking opportunity, conferences, thematic sessions, demonstrations. The unit also aims to create links between SMEs and various components of the EPFL campus, in particular EPFL branches and the vast network of technological start-ups.
  • Recruitment
Many opportunities exist, including internships, master’s degree projects in companies, recruitment of young graduates, recruitment of experienced professionals trained at EPFL.
  • Formation
A complete and customizable offer of training courses is available to you: such as the UNIL-EPFL and Extension School of the EPFL.

As an innovation facilitator, we are at your disposal to support you in your business project.

The SME unit also encourages its partners to establish a long-term relationship by joining the Industrial Liaison Program Alliance.

This regional programme provides additional support to SMEs established in Western Switzerland through mixed public-private financing.
