Security, Safety and Facilities Operations

The EPFL campuses present unique situations in terms of safety, prevention and health. A laboratory is a unique professional environment. The many events that take place on campus, such as the famous Balélec festival or state visits, require specific logistics. The student population, as well as the staff, must find healthcare support. These are just a few examples of the countless issues addressed by the Security and Operations Department teams (VPO-SE), who also oversee the maintenance and development of the buildings and technical facilities and coordinate building alteration work, as well as the activities inherent in the audiovisual, printing centre and catering services.

Our security and health services

Health

The occupational health team, comprising occupational doctors, nurses and hygienists, aims to promote and protect the health and well-being of all people working at EPFL.

Security

Our specialists work on the ground when conducting inspections, as well as on construction project analyses and the organization of events.

Rescue

The campus can count on a rescue and assistance organization structured around an emergency response unit that is available 24/7 and can be reinforced by the School’s volunteer rescuers and firefighters (SDIS – EPFL).

 

Laboratory activities

Our mission is to foster a safe working environment in laboratories thanks to advice, risk analyses and audits.

Training

The DSPS runs various compulsory basic safety training courses. It also organizes specific on-demand training courses such as forklift driving, crane bridges, electrical hazards, etc.

Our caretaking and operational services

Intervention request

To meet your needs for office furnishings or moves, adaptations of installations and infrastructure modifications, an intervention request can be made using the online form.

CAE repair services

For all kinds of technical problems (power failure, damaged door/window, blocked drain, heating, water leak, etc.), call CAE at number 34000, 24/7.

Office furnishing / move

To prepare a facilities request in view of an office furnishing or move: furniture catalogues, practical information and regulations.

Caretakers

For your requests regarding cleaning services, waste management and keys.

Mail

Schedules and information regarding sending and receiving internal and external mail, and contacts for express postage.

Cartes d'accès

Camipro

The Camipro card is your gateway to the EPFL Campus. It is an electronic smart card that gives you access to various functions, benefits and services. It acts as an electronic wallet and allows you to pay without cash in the various shops on the Campus.

Audiovisual service

EPFL’s audiovisual service (SAVE) offers the following services: audiovisual troubleshooting, lending of equipment, videoconferencing, etc.

Print Center

The Print Centre team supports you in your projects, whether they are simple or complex. Our skills in graphic design, printing and binding are at your service.

Energy

The Security, Safety and Facilities Operations Department is in charge of enegy issues at EPFL. The teams involved plan, operate and maintain the technical installations of all EPFL buildings.
