Open Science Strategic Committee (OSSC)

Mission

The OSSC represents the EPFL academic community in institutional matters related to Open Science and establishes the predominant role of researchers in shaping EPFL’s vision for it.

Its primary role is to provide strategic advice. It proposes an Open Science strategy to the Direction of EPFL, and provides advice for its implementation. The OSSC also engages with Schools, Centers and other academic units to be a voice for Open Science.

The OSSC represents EPFL in relevant Open Science strategic bodies, notably the Delegation Open Science (DelOS) of swissuniversities and the ORD Steering Committee (ORD-SC) of the ETH Domain.

In addition, as a permanent committee of academics debating and exploring Open Science, the OSSC is an internal think tank to develop a forward-looking and ambitious vision for Open Science, with the explicit intention of making EPFL a leading institution for Open Science and to firmly anchor Open Science in EPFL’s research culture.

The members of the OSSC are appointed by the Provost for a term of four years, which can be renewed.
