EPFL students

The candidates must hold an EPFL Bachelor’s degree with an overall average of at least 5,0/6.

ENS de Lyon students

The candidates must have obtained the Licence en Informatique, parcours Informatique fondamentale from ENS de Lyon.

EPFL students

By the time of application, the candidates must already have been admitted to the Master’s degree in Computer science or Communication systems at EPFL.

ENS de Lyon students

By the time of application, the candidates must already have been admitted to the Master’s degree in Informatique, parcours Informatique fondamentale at ENS de Lyon.

EPFL students

  • Two semesters of Master’s degree at EPFL: courses (60 ECTS)
  • One semester of Master’s degree at ENS de Lyon: fundamental courses (30 ECTS)
  • One semester at EPFL: industrial internship (no ECTS)
  • One semester at ENS de Lyon: advanced courses (30 ECTS)
  • One semester of Master’s thesis in a lab supervised by a professor or a senior scientist of EPFL, as well as a teaching tutor of ENS de Lyon (30 ECTS)

ENS de Lyon students

  • Two semesters of Master’s degree at ENS de Lyon: courses and internship (60 ECTS)
  • Two semesters of Master’s degree at EPFL: courses (60 ECTS)
  • One semester at EPFL: industrial internship (no ECTS)
  • One semester of Master’s thesis in a lab supervised by a professor or a senior scientist of EPFL, as well as a teaching tutor of ENS de Lyon (30 ECTS)

A level of at least B2 in English (C1 recommended) is needed, as all courses of the double degree program are taught in English.

This program is a dual curriculum over a three-year period leading to a double Master’s degree:

  • Master’s degree in Computer science or Communication systems from EPFL (accredited by the Commission française des titres d’ingénieur)
  • Master’s degree in Sciences, Technologies, Santé, mention Informatique, parcours Informatique fondamentale from ENS de Lyon

EPFL students also obtain the Diplôme de l’ENS de Lyon if they meet its criteria:

  • Validation of the Cambridge Advanced Exam (C1 level)
  • Validation of 10 ECTS on top of the credits needed for the Master’s degree (choice from the full course offering and the crediting activities offered by ENS de Lyon)
  • Validation of the Master’s degree in Informatique, parcours Informatique fondamentale
