Context

The implementation of the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050 (ES2050) requires technological and socio-economic challenges to be overcome and innovative solutions to be deployed on the Swiss energy system.

This in depth refurbishment of the energy system required a coordination mechanism that would bring promising innovative solutions from the labs to the market on an efficient and effective way. The 8 competences centers, SCCERs, were established in order to server this purpose.

With regards to the electrical infrastructure, the ES2050 requires the deployment of the so-called Smart Grid concept in order to maintain the stability and reliability of the power grid. This is were the SCCER-FURIES is coming in.
