Award for ESL paper on 3D MPSoCs Management with Integrated Flow Cell Arrays at GLSVLSI

The 32nd edition of GLSVLSI was held at Irvine, California from the 6th to 8th June, 2022.

Congratulations to EDEE’s Doctoral Researcher Halima Najibi and her co-authors (Alexandre Levisse, Giovanni Ansaloni, Marina Zapater and David Atienza), who were awarded 3rd place Best Paper Award for their paper :

Thermal and Power-Aware Run-Time Performance Management of 3D MPSoCs with Integrated Flow Cell Arrays

You can read the full paper here, which explains how the authors have explored the dual effects of FCAs (cooling and power supply) by introducing a novel methodology that controls the operating frequency of computing components and the electrolytic coolant flow rate at run-time in 3D MPSoC architectures.

The results on a 4-layer 3D MPSoC platform achieve up to 24% increase in the operating frequencies and resulting in application speedups of up to 17%, while at the same time reducing the costs related to FCA liquid pumping energy.
