FCCF Operating Rules

Samples must be filtered prior to running on any instrument.

Startup, cleaning and shutdown procedures as described during practical trainings must be followed.

If you are the last user of the day, you are responsible for shutting down the instrument you have been using.

Computers are only meant to be used for analytical purpose and to connect to the booking system. Please bring your own laptop if you need to go on the internet or to do other any other thing at the same time. Running several programs at a time on our workstations can cause acquisition software to slow down, freeze, or even crash.

In order to ensure proper functioning of both instruments and computers, and in order to have a regular and thorough cleaning of our facility, every first Monday of the month occurs the Cleaning Day.

All of the analyzers are booked from 8:00 to 12:00 and are therefore not available to our users.

The major implication for our users is that data is removed from every computer. That’s why we strongly advise our users to export and save their data every time they are done running their samples on any instrument.

Please get acquainted with our Data Archiving policies.

A Cleaning Day is also operated on both our cell sorters, but on two different days in order to always have one cell sorter available at a time.

  • Personal protective equipment: gloves and lab coats
  • Cleaning solutions
  • Vortexers
  • Centrifuges upon request
  • Tissues
  • Tube racks
  • Pipettes and tips
  • Regarding polypropylene or polystyrene 5mL ‘FACS’ tubes: users must bring their own FACS tubes, the facility only provides additional ones if users need a few extra tubes.

Access to our facility and intruments for internal and external users will be granted upon completion of our ‘Getting Started Procedure‘.

Masters students and summer students will not be given access to the booking system nor to the facility and will therefore have to rely on their supervisors for instruments reservation and access to our lab.

Users from the SV Faculty are granted a full 24h / 7 days access to our facility. On the other hand, users from other faculties as well as external users have their access limited to Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm.
