Round Table

The Lausanne roundtables are held either at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) or at Business School Lausanne (BSL).

The organizers are Gil Regev and Véronique Sikora

The round tables are held from 18:00 to 20:00 on selected Thursdays three to four times a year. Free refreshments are served starting at 17:30.

The round tables are informal meetings designed to bring together people who share an interest in knowledge management, organizational development and change, and related disciplines.  All round tables are free to attend.

There are no long presentations and note taking; only networking and discussions. These kinds of discussions are called Knowledge Cafes.

The languages of the event are English and French.

Subject: How could we organize and use a knowledge database in order to resolve incidents efficiently?

Presenter: Alain Mageux IT Service Management Senior Consultant at Itecor and member of the board itSMF Swiss Chapter

Summary

Service desks and Incident Management have been put into place in many small and large organizations. They typically manage several knowledge bases that contain user requests, incidents, problems etc. Information is continually added into these knowledge bases but it is rarely used efficiently. It is assumed that this is because this information is too generic and therefore is of little benefit and use to other service management actors. Better input classification is thought to be necessary to make these knowledge bases more usable. In this round table we will explore different techniques to make this happen.
