Presentation File (PowerPoint)

Vittorio, our presenter for the evening, got stuck in London due to the extreme weather. Rather than cancelling the event, we improvised a skype conference whereby Vittorio or his presentation were projected on a large screen and Vittorio could see the participants through a webcam.

After a presentation of the basic concepts of Web Social Tagging (see presentation link), Vittorio asked the participants to ask a question and post on Aardvark to see what answers they received. After these answers were received, the participants were asked to look for taggers who might have further answers in Web Social Tagging sites such as, del.icio.us, Connotea and Librarything.

Several groups received extensive answers to their questions, e.g. on the relative merits of electric cars vs. traditional gas powered cars.

One participant proposed stackoverflow as an alternative to Aardvark for software development specific questions.

Participants are invited to respond to a follow-up questionnaire which would be very helpful for Vittorio’s further research on the topic, at http://inform.epfl.ch/?form=Feedback_SKMF

Our many thanks to all the participants who braved the unusual weather and joined us for this quite virtual roundtable
