DATA THINK !

Data Research and Ontology

Data Think! is a block course to take place from October 22 to 26, 2018 on the EPFL campus in Lausanne. Aimed at an interdisciplinary audience of doctoral candidates, the course consists in a series of lectures, seminars and workshops with an international panel of eminent experts—interdisciplinary researchers engaged with qualitative, quantitative and computational approaches to data production and analysis. During a week, students look at the historical idea of data across research practices, how scientific theories and concepts affect our construction of data, and in which way data and data analysis shapes our relationship to society and the environment. Through this course, students also acquire a critical understanding of what it means to produce and use data in research today and the emerging transdisciplinary approaches to data analysis.
