The SV Workshop is located in the basement of building SV in room SV 0521.

The workshop is open from 7:30AM to 11:45AM and from 1:00PM to 4:30PM.

For any electrical problem, the Workshop can be contacted by email or by phone at the number 38331. Outside of the workshop’s opening hours and in case of emergency, the PCC is available at 34000.

The SV-IT is available for any computer or network problems within the FSV.

For any breakdowns in the ventilation of the buildings, please contact the PCC by email or by phone at 34000.

For any problem with the sanitary facilities, please contact the PCC by email or by phone at 34000.

For any issues with laboratory equipment or mobile devices, please contact the workshop first, which will handle the problem as soon as possible or call in an external company if necessary.

The Workshop team strives to respond to all requests within 24 hours. In case of an emergency, please contact the service by phone so that the request can be processed as soon as possible.

An emergency standby service is available for certain equipment connected to the centralized alarm system, or for urgent and problematic situations occurring during the night or on weekends. All information is available in our “Emergency Standby Service” section.

An emergency standby service is available for certain equipment connected to the alarm system. There is a centralized alarm system for unit-specific refrigerators and freezers, which is run by the DII. When the system detects too much temperature variation on the connected equipment, an SMS is sent to the cell phone of the contact persons in the laboratory. In case of questions on the alarm system, please contact the Workshop. More information is available in our “Emergency Picket Service” section.

Price of maintenance may vary depending on the age of the device, its warranty and the possible parts to be replaced. Please contact the Workshop for more information.

The “Mechanical constructions” section contains information about mechanical constructions and specific work that can be executed on equipment. In case of need, do not hesitate to contact the SV Workshop or directly the mechanic technician, Mr. Samuel Gex.

Lead time will depend on the type of construction, its complexity, the volume of requests and whether it can be done in-house or needs to be sent to the STI School workshops. The SV Workshop staff or Mr. Samuel Gex will be able to answer more precisely once all the information is known.

The price of the constructions will depend on the quantity of requests and the necessary raw materials. More information is available in the “Mechanical constructions” and “Invoicing” sections.

The purchase of standard laboratory and office furniture is paid for by the School and is not charged to the units. All requests for specific furniture are the responsibility of the laboratories. For more information, please contact the Workshop.

Users can have access to storage places at -80°C (freezers) and -170°C (liquid nitrogen).

Units may store BSL1 samples properly packed and placed in specific boxes of  dimensions 133x133x45mm. For more information, please contact the Workshop by email or at phone number 38331. In case of doubt about the security level of the samples to be stored, please contact the biosafety correspondent of the SV School.
