Lifting equipment
For the laboratories located on the Ecublens site, the maintenance of lifting equipment (hoists, overhead cranes) is the responsibility of the EPFL exploitation service (as are fume hoods and chemical cupboards). Lifting accessories maintenance is the responsibility of users.

Lifting accessories maintenance is the responsibility of users. The head of the research unit must ensure that lifting accessories (slings, chains, hooks) are inspected in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements. Lifting accessories must be inspected by a person trained in the inspection of lifting accessories or by an accredited company (such as Spanset and Alkana). The inspection must be documented and recorded on the equipment (maintenance sticker).
