The future of books and libraries

Books are becoming machines

We try to understand the future of the printed book by comparing it with other technological objects. We introduced the concept of “regulated representations” to frame this question in a larger framework and comparing it in particular with the evolution of maps.

We view libraries as physical interfaces to discover books and collectively curate them. Current digital interfaces are offering very poor services to potential readers. A library is not an archive, it is a space to explore. We believe the future of libraries is linked with a smart exploration of the interface possibility of these physical spaces.
