Studying abroad
Architecture students have the opportunity to study abroad during their third year of the Bachelor’s programme (semesters BA5 and BA6) only. EPFL’s partner schools include, in Switzerland, ETH Zurich and the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, various European universities (Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, etc.) and various institutions outside Europe (Canada, South Korea, etc.).
- have obtained an overall average of at least 4.5 (Europe and Switzerland) and 5.0 (outside Europe) during the preparatory year
- have obtained all the credits for the second year of the Bachelor’s degree
- have completed the first two years at EPFL
This exchange involves signing an individual exchange agreement (Learning Agreement), in which the candidate will define, in particular, the provisional list of courses they undertake to follow during their exchange. This list of courses will be validated by the academic exchange advisor for the architecture section, then uploaded to the student’s IS-Academia portal.
- Information session in October on application procedures and steps

Exchange students at EPFL
Each year, ENAC’s architecture department welcomes 50 to 60 exchange students, who are integrated into the third year of the bachelor’s programme or the master’s programme. They can join project workshops and choose from among the master’s teaching units. Course registration is done online via ISAcademia. Information sessions and workshop presentations are organised to facilitate their integration.
