As the semester gets underway, make the most of this ideal opportunity to admire the stunning panoramic views of the Lake Geneva region from the Jura ridges. This lovely outing to La Dôle also offers a chance to enjoy some quality time together, meet people from across the diverse student community and forge lasting friendships. We’ll set off from Lausanne railway station at around 9.00 am, heading towards La Givrine. Our walk, lasting around two hours, will begin amidst lush green countryside, dotted with pastures and grazing herds, before taking us up to the summit (1,677 m). After passing through a wooded area, we’ll reach an open plateau offering an exceptional panoramic view of Lake Geneva and the Alps, with the majestic Mont Blanc in the foreground and the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa in the distance. Against this spectacular backdrop, we’ll share a picnic before setting off on a two-hour descent that will reveal another highlight: the opportunity to observe the successive geological layers that form the structure of the Vaud Jura massif. Our walk will end in the charming village of Saint-Cergue, where everyone can refresh themselves at the local fountain whilst savouring some artisanal Swiss chocolates. Finally, the return train will take us back to Lausanne at around 6 pm.
