Opportunities and risks related to digitalisation are challenging to address and require excellent collaboration between technique and governance. IRGC has been exploring these issues over a series of specific themes:

  • Digital Currencies and Assets (2022)
  • Deepfakes (2019)
  • Decision-making Algorithms / Machine Learning (2018)
  • Distributed Ledger Technologies / Blockchain (2017)
  • Internet of Things and Cybersecurity (2016)
  • Cyber security (2015)

Expert workshops and conferences

The workshops in Zurich are organised at the Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue and in partnership with the Swiss Re Institute, which has been supporting IRGC since 2005, both intellectually and financially.

In 2019-2022 IRGC participated in the EU H2020 TRIGGER project, which created tools for EU institutions to use in global digital technology governance.
