The EPFL International Risk Governance Center acts at the interface between academic research and policy. It operates internationally, primarily in the areas of multi-stakeholder risk governance and policy relating to emerging technologies. IRGC contributes a risk governance approach to EPFL activities, focusing on how risks can be governed without stifling innovation.
Our work is rooted in the IRGC Risk Governance Framework, as well as subsequent guidelines that were developed to more specifically address the challenges posed by governance of emerging and systemic risks. We apply these guidelines to a wide range of specific risk domains, and in recent years we have focused increasingly on risks associated with emerging technologies.
IRGC works in collaboration with the IRGC Foundation. Annual reports covering our activities from 2016-2020 can be found here.
