(UWB) Correcting a Performance Anomaly in the DCC-MAC Protocol

Contact: Ruben Merz

Background Information

DCC-MAC is a MAC layer specifically designed for Impulse-Radio Ultra-Wide Band (IR-UWB) networks. It is implemented in C++ in the well-known ns-2 simulator. Recently, we discovered a few anomalies and performance issues with DCC-MAC in multi-hop scenarios.

Goal of the Project

The goal of this project is to understand and correct the issues mentioned above for DCC-MAC.

Benefits:

  • Exposure to state of the art research in wireless networking and protocols
  • Excellent knowledge of UWB networking
  • Experience with network protocol implementation, in particular in the ns-2 network simulator

Domain:

Network performance analysis
