The simulation and performance evaluation of UWB physical layers in the presence of a large number of concurrent transmitters is crucial for evaluating is suitability for large and dense sensor networks. However, conventional simulation methods require a far too large processing power to be usable in the presence of a large number of interferers. Hence, the goal of this project is to apply the simulation method developed in [1] to a non-coherent UWB receiver in a multiuser environment. The non-coherent receiver is based on energy detection. Benefits: – In deep understanding of an UWB physical layer. – Exposure to large deviation theory and importance sampling theory.
