To reach Switzerland by plane
From one of the three Swiss international airports: Geneva-airport is the closest (40-60 minutes), Zürich (2h30) and/or Basel (also some 2h30).
From any of these airports, train stations are conveniently within the airports and so, you can take a train to Lausanne and follow-up your journey to EPFL by taking the Lausanne metro (Gare CFF > Gare du Flon > line M1 direction Renens). You also you may rent a car (quite expensive) or take a taxi (outrageously expensive for such distances) but you should definitively consider using public tranportation.
