Certificate programs are led by someone who is a professor or senior lecturer at EPFL.

They have study regulations and a study plan.

The study regulations and curriculum specify at least the following:

1. admission requirements and procedures;
2. training methods;
3. skills assessment methods;
4. requirements for successful completion;
5. organizing bodies;
6. credits associated with courses in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
