Rules for media (photos, videos…)

A wide range of media (photos, videos, sounds, graphics) can be used on the web and all obey specific presentation rules.

– Photos: photos systematically feature captions and credits (copyright).

– Resolution: use low resolution (72 dpi) at all times to speed up display.

– Format: JPEG (average or high quality).

– Size: at least 640 pixels wide.

In WordPress, choose preformatted sizes if required.

– Weight: at most 80-100 KB per photo.

– Slideshows: with a systematic title and teaser (at most 1 or 2 lines), captions (over at most 1 or 2 lines).

– Size: at least 640 pixels wide.

– Number of photos: at most 8-15 photos.

– Short title and a teaser of 1 or 2 lines.

– Duration – 3 possibilities:

> 30-40 sec. to one minute maximum if the video is used within a text.

> 1.30 to 2 min if the video is used alone (Multimedia Category).

> If the video lasts longer than this: divide the video up into several separate subjects.

– Short title and a teaser of 1 or 2 lines.

– Publication: title each sound, indicate the duration. Add a short teaser if the sound stands alone.

– Format: MP3.

– Duration – 3 possibilities:

> Short extract (10-15 seconds);

> Long extract (30 seconds to one minute);

> Beyond a minute: let readers download the sound file (podcast).

– Weight: at most 4 MB.
