The salary system of the ETH Domain applies to employees on permanent contracts (CDI) in the following roles: scientific, administrative, technical, IT, or management positions.
The salary system of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology is based on principles of fairness, transparency, and recognition of experience.
Principles
- Based on a 15-level job classification grid, structured according to the complexity of the positions
- Salary positioning depends on the responsibilities of the role (not on the individual profile)
- Salary progression is linked to relevant experience (up to 15 years), with annual increments
- Adjustments may be applied based on:
- Inflation
- Exceptional performance (via bonuses or AES)
- Changes in the role
Professors appointed by the ETH Board and positions on fixed-term contracts (CDD), whether academic or non-academic, are not included within this scope.
