MPBH

Welcome to the web page of the Swiss National Science Foundation funded Sinergia network “Mott Physics Beyond the Heisenberg-model” (MPBH).

MPBH is a network of research groups in Switzerland linked to a strong international network of collaborators joining forces in a coherent research effort into the physics of strongly correlated electron systems around the Mott transition between strange metals and quantum magnets – expanding our understanding from the heralded Heisenberg model to the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling, magnetoelectric effects etc.

What elevates this Sinergia project above a regular research collaboration is that the funding brings together a complete set of experts – synthesis, complementary experiment and theory – allowing a strong and uniquely coherent impact on the field. The work has been divided into 4 sub-projects, which are outlined on the Topics page.
