Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies LAST
Dr. Sophie Lufkin was invited to write the editorial of the latest publication by Lignum, edited with the support of the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN and dedicated to wooden vertical extensions. Entitled “Transforming upwards,” her contribution focuses on the issues related to this type of strategy within urban contexts. Moreover, the vertical extension of an administrative building located at Avenue de l’Université 5 in Lausanne is presented among the nineteen selected examples. It is the first application of the Working Space research project, developed by the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) in the framework of a partnership with the Canton of Vaud.
Urban Transitions Forum
Following the momentum generated by its ten editions, the Ecoparc Forum continues today its development, intensifies its role of an exchange platform, and changes its name. Organized jointly by the Ecoparc Association and the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) of the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in partnership with the journal Tracés, this biennial event will become from its next edition the "Urban Transitions Forum".
Towards new equilibriums for the river neighborhoods in transition
In an article published in the last edition of the "Cahiers d’EspaceSuisse", the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST) presents the issues and specificities of the research project called "Rhodanie urbaine" and currently under development. Through diverse design investigations, it aims at the emergence of integrative strategies for river neighborhoods in transition.
