Addressing sustainability at a tangible scale
Dr. Martine Laprise, senior scientist at the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST), was invited to write a column simultaneously broadcast in several Swiss newspapers like Le Nouvelliste, Arcinfo and La Côte on the transition of urban territories towards sustainability. The article highlights, more specifically, the neighborhood scale as a basis for tangible actions in the project process.
Forum des transitions urbaines
Organized jointly by the Ecoparc Association and the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST), the Forum des transitions urbaines gathered more than 120 participants on September 3 in the Microcity auditorium of the EPFL campus in Neuchâtel (Switzerland). Entitled “Réinventer les rives urbaines?”, the event enabled participants to discover a wealth of projects, studies and developments underway in urban territories in transition.

Along with the publication of an article on the Oassis neighborhood in the latest edition of the French journal Archistorm, an interview with Prof. Emmanuel Rey, Head of the Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST), highlights some issues inherent in the role of the architect in urban territories in transition.
