In 2019, FAR will start working on a pictorial history of urban growth in Dubai that relies on thousands of images from the archives of Mark Marin, an Australian designer/photographer who recorded almost 10 years of activity on the city’s construction sites, until 2017. The work, to be developed in collaboration with Dr Giorgio Marfella, from the University of Melbourne, is an attempt to draw history inductively, from the human coalface of construction activity, by looking at the material activities carried out on site both technically and anthropologically, and by connecting them to industry data.
