HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language, the main language used to create web pages. Browsers (Safari, Chrome, FireFox, Internet Explorer) read the code and display the pages as we see them.

When editing pages or articles, the content is displayed in Visual mode. However, it is sometimes useful to be able to edit the content using HTML code.
Either to add formatting not available with the Visual Editor, or sometimes to understand and correct some display problems.

To edit HTML code you can either

  • Click on the Text tab. Note that even if it takes it into account, WordPress does not display the <p> tag
  • In the Editor toolbar, select Tools menu, and choose <> Source Code
