FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Mobility in General

Find all information about mobility at EPFL in this guide.

No, the EPFL’s mobility services are exclusive to its students and employees because the University subsidizes a large part of the services (e.g. bicycle point, subsidies for the purchase of a Mobilis pass).

Please follow the link on this page.

On the myCAMIPRO form you can choose between an annual voucher (renewable after 365 days) or a maximum of two monthly vouchers per order (renewable after 60 days).

Once you fill the form you will automatically receive an electronic coupon by email that you can use either at a TL shop or online (Lausanne public transportation company).

If you are new at EPFL, you will first have to make sure that your employer at EPFL has accredited you to the camipro service (contact).

No, the voucher is valid for all Mobilis subscriptions, regardless of where you live.

The grant is in the form of a voucher which can be requested by email at [email protected], indicating your private address for sending the voucher.

> More information

Yes ! Since July 2022, EPFL and the TPG (Geneva public transport) have reached an agreement to provide a subsidy for the employees of the Biotech campus. For more information, please go here.

Depending on the purchases and offers of our partner stores, all models of bikes are available at the EPFL Bike Point Vélo (Gravel, electric, new, used, etc.). You can come directly to the workshop to check the current availability (see opening hours).

No, the workshop is exclusively reserved for the EPFL community, as the bikes sold are subsidized by the School. For your information, UNIL has its own bike workshop. You should contact them directly to find out if they have any offers on new or used bikes if you wish to purchase one.

You can drop it off at the Bike Point during opening hours.

Each spring and fall, Sustainability EPFL offers promotional offers on the purchase of a new bike in collaboration with its partner stores.

New offers will be put in place for the academic year starting in fall 2021.
Also note that several communes offer subsidies for the purchase of a new bike.

Several bikes are currently or have been under repair lately, and those available are in high demand. Work is underway to strengthen and better manage the EPFL cargobike fleet. More cargobikes will be available for the next academic year.

Motor vehicles

No. The use of private cars for business travel tends to be limited in order to:

  1.  comply with the School’s sustainability policy
  2. protect employees in case of accident (there is no EPFL insurance coverage for travel by private car)
  3. have a better financial control of the mileage reimbursements

At the same time, the offer of rental cars and car-sharing has been increased to ensure these trips, especially for trips to destinations that are not served by public transport.

With the ambitious objectives in terms of CO2 emissions reduction and sustainability in the broadest sense dictated to us by the Confederation and the ETH Board, we must by 2030 considerably reduce the impact of commuting at EPFL. The achievement of these objectives will be possible only with a strong reduction of our electricity consumption and parking infrastructures that can be allocated to other priority needs of the School.

Yes, it is possible to offer parking permits for visitor spaces via the website or the parkingpay app. To do so, simply create an account, enter the visitor’s license plate number and activate the authorization upon the visitor’s arrival (or purchase a daily authorization in advance). Please note that the EPFL zone code is 1000 (not 1015).

Parking for motorized two-wheelers is free. There are covered outdoor parking lots throughout the campus (e.g. Piccard, Esplanade, Diagonale, BS). Underground parking is not available for motorcycles, as access to buildings should be managed on a case-by-case basis.

Motor vehicles parking ticket complaints should be sent to the VPO-DSE via email [email protected]
