Most EPFL activities, including all classes and exams, take place on our Lausanne campus. It’s located just to the west of Lausanne, near the University of Lausanne campus and not far from Lake Geneva.

Getting there on public transportation

By metro

Itinerary
  • Take metro line m1 from the Lausanne-Flon or Vigie stop.
  • Travel in the direction of Renens-Gare.
  • Get off at UNIL-Sorge or EPFL.

By bus

Itinerary
  • Take bus line 1 from the Riponne M. Béjart, Bel-Air or St-François stops.
  • Travel in the direction of EPFL/Colladon.
  • Get off at Pâqueret, Parc Scientifique or EPFL/Colladon.
Details
  • This bus line only runs all the way to EPFL during rush hour from Monday to Friday (see schedule here).
  • The trip takes around 30 minutes.
  • You can buy tickets on the tl or SBB website.

By metro

Itinerary
  • Take metro line m2 from the Lausanne-Gare station in the direction of Croisettes.
  • Get off at Lausanne-Flon and take line m1.
  • Travel on the m1 in the direction of Renens-Gare.
  • Get off at UNIL-Sorge or EPFL.

By bus

By car or bicycle

A group of towns on the west side of Lausanne has put together a map of recommended cycling itineraries (in French only).

Numerous bike racks, including some covered ones, are available on the Lausanne campus. EPFL community members can also use the bicycle park at SwissTech Village.

Take the A1 motorway in the direction of Lausanne-Sud, and get off at the EPFL-Ecublens exit.

Visitors can use the paid parking places at the Rolex Learning Center (the spaces are under the Esplanade), and along Avenue Piccard. The green and yellow parking spaces are for EPFL employees.
