The research platforms of the Institute of Architecture and the City (IA) – the Archives of Modern Construction and Archizoom – complement and enrich the scientific activities carried out within the institute’s laboratories and research groups. They offer unique resources, both in terms of infrastructure and knowledge dissemination, enabling researchers, students and external partners to access, promote and share the knowledge produced within the school.

The Archives of Modern Construction (ACM) is a unit of the Institute of Architecture within the ENAC Faculty. In line with EPFL’s core activities, the ACM team’s mission is to contribute to the development of new knowledge, specifically in the field of architecture, through historical research, teaching and dissemination.

The Archizoom platform provides the EPFL community with a space for critical reflection on architecture through the organisation of exhibitions, conferences and public events. It is a tool for research and scientific mediation, closely linked to the activities carried out within EPFL Architecture.
As a research platform, Archizoom promotes the dissemination of knowledge, dialogue between disciplines, and exchange between researchers, students, practitioners and the general public. It thus actively contributes to enriching the debate on the built environment and promoting the work resulting from architectural research.
