Environmental Sciences and Engineering

In addition, lectures in Human and Social Science (SHS) allow students to step back and develop a critical view on social, ethical and environmental implications.
Artificial intelligence speeds land-use classification
An EPFL Master’s student has shown that artificial intelligence can be used to further automate the process of land-use classification in Switzerland, especially for rare and complicated land categories that until now have been classified manually. A stretch of land in Valais Canton served as the sample for her research.

Charlotte Grossiord wins the FPFS Foundation fellowship
Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Terrestrial Ecology and Director of the PERL Laboratory at EPFL, Charlotte Grossiord was just awarded a fellowship from the Sandoz Family Philanthropic Foundation (FPFS)-Monique de Meuron programme fostering up-and-coming academics.
