Optomechanical Switches for Mobile Display Application

Tunable reflective surfaces have great potential in light projection and display applications. One of the main impacting factors in reflection amplitude and spectrum of any reflective surface is the surface morphology. Nanostructured surfaces could reflect light in a wide range depending on the material and arrangement of the nanostructures. For light projection and display applications, an active tenability is essential which could be obtained by implementing MEMS-based actuation approaches.

The aim of this project is to realize an optomechanical reflective switch for display or projector application.
