Course Materials

Course materials facilitate the compilation of video content into written form, allow for note-taking, summarising, and rapid retrieval of specific course segments. They serve as a basis for retaining and revising material. They can be used in electronic format (note-taking on keyboard, click to corresponding video) or in paper format (note-taking by hand, QR code to corresponding video).

We produce a PDF document for each of your videos. The document contains:

  • Images of the different video sequences
  • Their corresponding transcripts
  • A space to take notes
  • Links to return to the different video sequences
  • A link to a video sequence search tool to dig into a collection of videos

About the video segment search tool: we put in place a video segment search tool (for your entire course) that can be seamlessly integrated into your Moodle course (or any other platform). This tool, based on subtitles, allows students to quickly locate specific parts of your videos where key concepts are explained. See it in action: search for the word “attribute” in the course “Responsible Software” (see how sentence excerpts in which “attribute” appears are ordered by chapter, subchapter and video): https://cede-webapps.epfl.ch/video-sequence-search/?csv=en_RESPONSIBLE-1.

Here you’ll find the series of course materials that accompany our MOOCs (one pdf document for each MOOC video).
