Artificial Intelligence

Although artificial intelligence is used every day by both the general public and professionals across a wide range of sectors, its underlying principles remain poorly understood. This program provides the knowledge and skills needed to better understand and master artificial intelligence, critically assess its potential and limitations, and develop more robust and ethically responsible systems.
Program presentation
After acquiring a solid foundation in mathematics, computational sciences, and programming, students deepen their knowledge of both mathematics and the various fields of artificial intelligence. Their studies cover key areas such as algorithms, computational methods, and machine learning.
Students can also broaden their expertise by choosing a specialization in robotics, artificial intelligence theory, life sciences, or computer systems. These complementary skills provide a valuable foundation for future Master’s studies and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Bachelor: simplified study plan
During the first year, students enrolled in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science follow the same courses, allowing them to switch freely between the two programs at the end of the first-year foundation program.
Students wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the foundations of artificial intelligence can take advanced courses in mathematics and computer science through a joint enhanced curriculum (Computer Science with Math Honors). This program also allows students to transfer to the second year of the Bachelor’s program in Mathematics if they wish.
Master: prospects
Data science extracts meaningful insights from large, complex, and often heterogeneous datasets. Beyond representing a new paradigm in research, it also drives innovative applications across every sector of the economy. This Master’s program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to play a leading role in this rapidly evolving field.
The broad foundation provided by the Neuro-X Master’s program prepares graduates for careers in clinical applications, product development, basic research, and translational research, with either an experimental or information technology focus.
The curriculum is complemented by several research lab projects and a wide selection of advanced courses in areas such as technology, data science and machine learning, imaging and image analysis, and scientific thinking.
For students who have chosen the computer systems specialization during their Bachelor’s studies, this Master’s program offers several specializations (30 ECTS):
- AI & Data Science
- Computer Systems
- Foundations of Computing
- Cyber security
Upon successful completion of their Bachelor’s degree, students may also pursue other Master’s programs, including a range of interdisciplinary options.
Please note that the information regarding the programs’ structure as well as the simplified study plan may be subject to change and that these are no legally binding. Only the official regulations and study plans are binding.
Career prospects

Whether developing new models, optimizing existing systems, or ensuring data integrity and ethical data use, their expertise is highly valued by major technology companies, academic institutions, and public organizations alike.
Partners such as Google, IBM Research Lab, NEC Labs, INRIA, CSEM, and Armasuisse offer numerous opportunities, particularly through the internship included in the curriculum, which can also be completed abroad.
With a strong awareness of ethical responsibility and societal impact, graduates are also well positioned to contribute to the development of policies and standards governing artificial intelligence.
Academic research, following a Master’s degree and a PhD, as well as entrepreneurship, offer further career opportunities for these versatile and highly sought-after professionals.
