Unemployment Insurance

Unemployment insurance is a mandatory protection in Switzerland for all salaried individuals. It provides financial compensation in the event of job loss, helping to offset part of the lost income.

Contribution

  • 1.1% of the gross monthly salary, up to CHF 12,350/month (i.e., CHF 148,200/year).
    → This contribution is automatically deducted from the salary and shared equally between the employee and the employer.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Be employed in Switzerland
  • Have worked at least 12 months within the last 2 years
  • Be fit to work and actively seeking employment

Procedures

  • In case of contract termination, you can request an employer certificate by writing to: [email protected]
  • This certificate is required to claim your rights with the Regional Employment Office (ORP).
