“Charter for the Architecture community” – updates

A first working group was formed in the Spring of 2025 through open and direct invitations. The group is composed of professors, post-docs, intermediate and administrative staff, PhD candidates, students, and members of the TNT Association.

Progress is structured in two phases:
Phase 1: Define the structure and select the content of the charter.
Phase 2: Refine the content, select formats and determine applications.

Below is summary of our meetings (updated regularly):

October 29, 2025: First meeting of the second phase. We met to align on the next phase of our work. We refined our core values and translated them into clearer, more practical meanings. We also updated the team structure, forming three teams of different sizes and focuses: drafting the charter, implementing it, and supporting the consultation process.

June 17, 2025: Fourth meeting. We reveiwed the contents so far of the charter by being presented the printed text and chapters in A3 format. Participants were invited to add stickers to each line using a color code indicating their suggestions for next steps for each: a) keep as is, b) find an example, c) rephrase, d) delete or remove. During the meeting it was decided to leave the charter on BP second floor. Members of the AR community could also participate adding their answers. The results will be the foundation from which to kick off the autumn semester work of this group.

May 15, 2025: Third meeting. The session began with a review of progress and information regarding the inclusion of student representatives in the autumn semester of 2025, to ensure representation across the student body. The group then conducted a deep dive into the use and maintenance of spaces for studying and working. The session concluded by setting points for the future schedule and planning after the summer.

April 2, 2025: Second meeting.  We identified transparency, inclusion, equity, and respect as shared values emerging from our discussions on the charter. We exchanged ideas on content related to mental health and well-being, diversity and inclusion, expenses and financial accessibility, pedagogy and teaching culture, and communication.

March 3, 2025: First meeting. Members introduced themselves and shared their motivations for joining the group. TNT members presented the results of the Unlearning session held on September 23, 2024, which explored formats and content for a charter. Ingrid Le Duc presented key areas and values of charters from architecture schools elsewhere. A basic outline of the charter’s contents was discussed.
