The PROJECT
Every day, several hundred weather balloons are released into the world. After the ascent, the balloon explodes and the measuring instruments land in sometimes unaffordable places. Our project is about a way to redirect the instruments during the descent.
The GOAL
The principle is to close or open a parachute, in order to modify the catch in the wind. In this way, it will be possible to take advantage of the favourable winds that will bring the instruments as close as possible to a destination. Thus, fewer instruments will be lost, and can therefore be recycled for further launches.
