Open position for internship on “Multi-view omnidirectional video communications”

A user who watches a 360-degree video with a head-mounted display (HMD) can choose which portion of spherical content to display by moving the head to a specific direction. In fully immersive virtual reality applications, apart from rotating his head, the user can also navigate the scene by moving within it, using dedicated cursors. This allows to control the point of view from which the scene is viewed. In order to allow free viewpoint navigation, the same scene have to be captured by many different cameras located at different positions in space, i.e. a multi-view camera set up.

The LTS4 is looking for highly motivated candidates with excellent programming skills to implement a solution for multi-view 360° video delivery. The internship can go from 3 up to 6 months and develops in the context of a collaboration between EPFL and Swisscom. New Postdoc Opening (Jan 2015)

Applications are invited for a position as full time PostDoc in the Signal Processing Laboratory (LTS4) of EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. The position is related to a collaborative research project related to content- and context-adaptive multimedia communication, and the successful applicant will work in particular on modelling and learning tasks for the design of adaptive distributed control algorithms.

The candidate should have a PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, or communications systems. An in-depth knowledge of one of the following topics is a plus: learning theory and algorithms, distributed control, interactive multimedia communication, graph signal processing or network information processing.

Prospective PhD Students

In order to become a PhD student at LTS4, you should first be admitted to the EPFL graduate school, preferably in the EE program (EDEE). You can apply online.

Before starting a PhD at LTS4, you should in general complete a project at LTS4, like an internship or a M.Sc. thesis project.

The LTS4 has regularly openings for postdoc positions. Internship Positions in Multimedia Signal Processing and Communications

We offer several positions for internship during the year, in multimedia signal processing and communications. The successful applicants will join a team of researchers at LTS4 – the Electrical Engineering Institute, EPFL, Lausanne in Switzerland.

Background
The candidates are expected to have a B.Sc. in electrical engineering, computer science, or communications systems. Good programming skills can be beneficial.
