Group meetings at LCSO

Continuous education is essential for the PhD student in organic chemistry in order to acquire a broader knowledge not limited to his own research project. The LCSO group meetings play a central role to achieve this goal.

Twice a week, the group gathers to exchange ideas and deepen its knowledge in chemistry. The two group meetings are the followings:

Main group meeting  (Currently on Tuesday 9:15 pm to 11:15 pm in BCH 3318): the meeting begins with discussion of important group business, followed by research presentations, either on a blackboard or on power point. Finally, Retro-synthesis, old and new literature or mechanistic problems are discussed.

Synthesis problem (Currently on Thursday 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm in BCH 4310): one PhD student or postdoc prepares and sends the total synthesis of a natural product under the form of a synthetic problem. Group members are asked to go to the board to rationalize the different steps and/or propose reaction conditions.
